Has it really been almost 2 months since the last time I updated??

Life in the Blaney house has been very busy. We moved in the middle of March out to the family homestead in Locust NC. (For those of you familiar we are now living in Dave's parents house) So far we like living out in the country.

Jack settled in quite nicely and didn't really seem to have any issues with the new digs. Jack has been growing like a weed...his 4 month checkup he was 15lbs 5 ozs and 25 inches long. As of this last Friday he had gained another pound and weighed in at 16lbs 5 ozs.

Now I guess we should share some pictures since that is what everyone comes in here for.

Bad Mommy- Not keeping everyone updated

Turns out being a full time working Mommy takes up all of your free time. I apologize for it being so long since the last update. Mommy started back to work at the beginning of February and it was a little tough getting a good routine down. That and when I am home I am not on the computer at all but spending as much time with Jack as I can.

This month has been a month of milestones. We began grasping things and holding them. Jack rolled over from his tummy to his back and he began to "talk" to us with the cutest little coos and gurgles.

Jack had his 2 month check up at the pediatrician and weighed in at 12lbs 15ozs and 23 inches long, so he is definitely a growing boy! Just this week I weighed him and he is now up to 14lbs 4 ozs.

Jack doesn't like to nap

So, our latest challenge is that Jack does not want to nap during the day. He will only sometimes nap in his swing. I thought we were finally over it when he napped for a few hours while I was out at doctor appointments and dropping by work but apparently that was a fluke. The issue is that he becomes quite cranky in the evenings and is over tired. Then he can't sleep because he is just loopy tired and won't settle.

I have become one of the Moms that will let her baby sleep wherever he will actually sleep. We are having some success this afternoon in the swing, which is why I actually have a few minutes to update.

Now I know no one really comes to read the updates but they come to see the pictures...so here they are.

Jack's New Year

Ok, I apologize for taking so long to update the blog, but we have been a hot bed of disease here in the Blaney household. As my last post indicated, it started with Jack. He caught RSV sometime over the holidays.

By the night of the 30th, he was having trouble breathing, wasn't eating (since he couldn't breath) and was running a fever. I called his pediatrician who after asking several questions about his breathing had us hang up and call 911. As you can imagine I was pretty freaked out. They admitted him to the hospital with RSV and an ear infection. He was on supplemental oxygen and IV antibiotics. I had to help hold him down for the IV line...it was awful to watch my baby so upset. At least the doctor had me leave the room for the lumbar puncture as I don't think I could have taken that. They did the lumbar puncture to rule out menengitis, which they did rule out.

We stayed in the hospital until Jan 2nd. They started backing him off the oxygen on new years eve and had him completely off it by Jan 1. then he had to stay off it and keep his stats up for 24 hours. I will say that the hospital is quite lucky that Dave did not destroy their monitoring equipment. Jack in his usual fashion hates to be monitored at all and kept pulling the leads off his ECG and respiration monitor with his feet. (he is quite smart and talented) and the machine would beep constantly until the leads were back in place right. We actually learned how to silence the alarm on it for 3 mins at a time.

Since we have been home, things are much better. The congestion for Jack is completely gone and he feels so much better. However, he did give both Mommy and Daddy the RSV. Mommy then also developed an ear infection. So, we are still battling the disease in our household for a little while longer.

Now I know you all want to see pictures and we have a ton, including ones of Jack over Christmas meeting his cousins on my side and the newest ones of him smiling.
